To get an NDIS Worker Check, you must either:
Interstate and overseas applicants
If you are interstate or overseas, you can still apply for RWVP in Tasmania. But there is a different application process you must complete.
How to apply for RWVP if you are outside of Tasmania:
- Prepare your proof of identity documents.
All proof of identity documents must be certified by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declarations or Notary Public. - Prepare a photograph of yourself that meets Australian passport photo requirements.
This photo must be certified by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declarations or Notary Public to confirm that it is an accurate photo of you. - Complete the online application form and upload your certified photo and proof of identity documents.
- Pay the application fees online by credit card.
You application will not be processed until you have followed all the above steps. Once your application is approved, your registration is valid for 5 years. You will need to provide new certified proof of identity documents and a photo every 10 years.
All your proof of identity documents must be in English. If they are in another language, you must have them translated into English by an accredited translator. The translated documents must then be certified by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declarations or Notary Public.
Need help with your application?
You can ask a friend, support person or community service to help you complete your application.
How long will it take?
Please allow up to 6 weeks to receive your application results.
Some of the factors that affect how long it takes to process an application for RWVP include:
- you have provided incomplete or inaccurate information in your application
- you have a common name, or a name that matches with potential persons of interest
- we are conducting background checks (such as collecting and processing information)
- we are doing a risk assessment
- we have asked for information from others (such as Tasmania Police).
Once your application is approved, your registration is valid for 5 years.
