There are two classes of Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP):
- Employment/Volunteer: this is for people who do paid work but may also volunteer
- Volunteer: this is for people who do not get paid, receive gifts or rewards for their work.
You can change your class of registration through MyRWVP. You can only change from Volunteer to Employment/Volunteer (you cannot change from Employment/Volunteer to Volunteer).
If you are already registered and want to change your registration class from volunteer to employee/volunteer within 12 months of your expiry date, you can complete an early renewal. Lodge it within 12 months (365 days) of the expiry date and you will not have to pay a change of class fee and a renewal fee in the same year.
Working or volunteering under the NDIS
If you want to work or volunteer with vulnerable people under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Tasmania, you must apply for an Employment/Volunteer class of RWVP with a NDIS Worker Check. This still applies even if you volunteer your time (that is, you do not get paid, receive material benefit or reward for your work).
