Fees

Fee relief for volunteers

The Tasmanian Government is providing fee relief for volunteers who need a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP). This will start on 1 January 2026 and run for two years. It applies to new and renewing RWVPs.

Please note:

  • If you volunteer in a regulated activity and are applying for or renewing a Volunteer class of RWVP in these two years, you do not need to pay any fee.
  • If you are a paid worker, it is an offence to engage in regulated activities with a Volunteer class of RWVP.

Find out if you need a RWVP for your volunteering with our Volunteers fact sheet.

Paying your worker or volunteer's fees

Employers or volunteer organisations may choose to pay these fees on behalf of their workers and volunteers.

You can pay a worker or volunteer's RWVP application or renewal fee online through the Employer Portal or the status checking tool. You will need their last name and application reference number or registration card number.

You must make sure your worker or volunteer has the correct RWVP class. If you pay your worker, their class must be listed as Employment/Volunteer. Penalties apply to you if you have a paid worker but they only hold a volunteer RWVP. A person who is registered as a volunteer can upgrade their class to Employment/Volunteer online at MyRWVP.
