When you apply for a RWVP, you will undergo a background check and risk assessment. You are also monitored throughout your registration for any new and relevant information about your conduct.
We are notified of new and relevant information by reporting bodies such as:
- state government departments and agencies
- national and state police
- organisations that register, licence or authorise people to work or volunteer.
They must notify us if they learn or suspect you have or may have engaged in reportable behaviour during your work or volunteering. This is behaving or acting in a way that poses a risk of harm to vulnerable people (including children). This can be due to neglect, abuse or other conduct.
When we receive new and relevant information, we will conduct a new risk assessment. You will be notified if we conduct a new risk assessment. Your RWVP may be suspended or cancelled, and you and your employer or volunteer organisation will be notified in writing.
If we cancel your RWVP, you will be given the reasons behind the decision. Reasons are not provided to your employer or volunteer organisation.

Reportable conduct scheme
Reportable conduct is different to reportable behaviour and is overseen by the Office of the Independent Regulator (OIR).
The Reportable Conduct Scheme of Tasmania requires leaders of specific organisations to notify the OIR when concerns are raised about conduct related to child abuse involving a worker, and undertake investigations.
The OIR will provide information to the RWVP team about reportable behaviour and related investigations.
The RWVP team may provide the OIR with advice about reportable behaviour reports that the RWVP team receives.

Memorandum of Understanding
In August 2025, the Registrar for RWVP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commissioner for Children and Young People, Office of the Independent Regulator, Integrity Commission Tasmania, and the Ombudsman Tasmania (Independent Statutory Officer Working Group).
