Using interstate checks in Tasmania

Are you coming to Tasmania from interstate to work or volunteer in a short-term regulated activity? If you have an equivalent interstate check/registration, in a class and regulated activity similar to the one you will be involved in within Tasmania, you do not need to apply for RWVP.

If you are not registered in another state or territory, you must apply for RWVP before taking part in the regulated activity while in Tasmania. Read more on how to apply for RWVP if you are outside of Tasmania.

If you become a resident of Tasmania, you can use your check/registration from another jurisdiction until it expires. Then you will need to apply for registration in Tasmania to continue working or volunteering in a regulated activity.

For employers/host volunteer organisations

If you’re the employer or host volunteer organisation of an interstate worker or volunteer, it’s important that you have evidence of their interstate check: such as a registration number you can verify online, a surname and date of birth, and/or a copy of their card. You must ensure their interstate registration is still valid before engaging them in regulated activities in Tasmania.

To check if an interstate registration is valid, go to the interstate websites below:

Australian Capital Territory: WWVP compliance and reporting

New South Wales: Check a Working with Children Check status

Queensland: Check if a blue card is valid

South Australia: Working with Children Check Search

Victoria: Working with Children Check status checker

Western Australia: WWC Card Validation
