Offences and penalties

These are not all the offences under the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2024. You can find all the offences and their penalties (fines or imprisonment) in Schedule 2 of the Registration to Work Vulnerable People Regulations 2024.

Workers and volunteers

If you are a worker or volunteer, you can face penalties if you do not:

• apply for RWVP if you work or volunteer in a regulated activity
• hold the correct class of RWVP and keep this up to date if you change from volunteer to paid worker
• keep your personal and employment details up to date
• notify us of existing criminal charges, convictions or orders when you apply for RWVP, or any new ones once you hold a RWVP.

Employers

If you are an employer, you can face penalties if you do not:

• check that your workers and volunteers hold a RWVP before they start working or volunteering for you.
