The Tasmanian Government is committed to ensuring Tasmanian volunteers are safe, valued and enabled.
To help achieve this, the Tasmanian Government is removing a financial barrier for volunteers.
For two years starting 1 January 2026, the Tasmanian Government is providing fee relief for volunteers who need a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP). It applies to new and renewing RWVPs.
There are over 332,000 volunteers in Tasmania. Many are engaged in regulated activities and services with vulnerable people, including children, that require them to hold a RWVP.
This initiative will reduce expenses for volunteers in a time of cost-of-living challenges, and reduce the administrative burden for organisations that host volunteers.
Please note:
- If you volunteer in a regulated activity and are applying for or renewing a Volunteer class of RWVP in these two years, you do not need to pay any fee.
- If you are a paid worker, it is an offence to engage in regulated activities with a Volunteer class of RWVP.
