Section 17 of the Justices of the Peace Act 2018 requires all JPs to advise the Secretary of the Department of Justice of a change in circumstances, including name, residential address or contact details.
You must notify us within 21 days if you:
- change your name, residential address or contact details
- are no longer an Australian citizen
- become insolvent
- have been charged with or found guilty of an offence punishable by a term of imprisonment of six months or more. You must also notify us, in writing, of the outcome of the proceedings on the charge within 21 days after the charge has been determined.
