Why work at Justice

Values

The Department of Justice is a values-based Agency. Our values are at the centre of everything we do and contribute to making Justice a great place to work. They guide behaviours, inform policy and service delivery, and influence how we engage with colleagues and clients.

Our values are:

  • Integrity: we are honest, ethical, reliable and fair in everything we do.
  • Respect: we treat our colleagues, stakeholders and clients with courtesy and value the diverse experiences of others.
  • Accountability: we are transparent, take ownership for our actions and acknowledge the responsibility we have to our colleagues, stakeholders and clients.
  • Inclusive: we enable our colleagues, clients and stakeholders to be respected, valued and treated equitably.
  • Collaborative: we actively engage with our colleagues, stakeholders and clients to make informed decisions that benefit the Tasmanian community.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At Justice, we put our people and community first – diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our workforce and our work.

We are committed to ensuring that inclusion is central to everything that we do, including ensuring that our services are accessible to all, and that our people feel a sense of empowerment, respect, and belonging at work.

We aspire to ensure that our people feel comfortable in being themselves, and bring their authentic selves to work.

A key part of this is hearing and responding to the voices and lived experience of the Tasmanian community. To this end, we have created community reference groups that inform policy and service delivery.

Learn more about our work in diversity and inclusion by reading our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy 2023-2026 (PDF, 763.8 KB).

To assist in the implementation of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, the Department of Justice is currently a member of the following organisations:
