Graduates and students

The Legal Graduate program is a 2-year program for recent law graduates. The program provides practical legal experience while you complete your Tasmanian Legal Practice Course. You’ll receive tailored support and professional development, including a customised induction, skills-based workshops, mentoring and networking opportunities.

There are two-phases to the program:

• Phase 1 (6 months): You’ll work 2 days a week at Justice, while completing your Tasmanian Legal Practice Course.

• Phase 2 (18 months): After completing your Tasmanian Legal Practice Course, you’ll work full time at Justice for the remainder of the 2-year program.

We recruit graduates each year as part of the Tasmanian State Service Graduate Development Program (TasGrad).

You will gain on-the-job experiences and participate in a formal structured learning and development program with other graduates across the Tasmanian State Service.

TasGrad has an annual intake. Positions are generally advertised on the Tasmanian Government Jobs website around August/September.
