Employee assistance program

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider is Converge International. The EAP is a comprehensive service that contributes to wellbeing in the workplace and is available to all employees, immediate family members, and others. See who can use the service below.

Services provided

The EAP offers free confidential, personal coaching and counselling services that provide immediate support. These services are provided by qualified professionals including psychologists, social workers, specialist counsellors and management coaches.

    Strategies, tools and coaching to deal with difficult workplace and personal situations

    Career development and planning, resume and job seeking assistance, interview skills, vocational counselling

    Financial counselling to help work through financial wellbeing concerns
  • Lifestyle Assist
    Manage addictive behaviours, promote nutrition and fitness, and increase mental and physical wellbeing.

You can access the EAP directly by:

  • calling 1300 687 327
  • emailing eap@convergeintl.com.au

The service is available from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. An after hours messaging service is available on the phone number listed above.

Calls are managed through a dedicated rapid response team at all times and if your call is urgent, immediate phone counselling is available.

You can also ask for a referral:

  • through the Department’s EAP Coordinator on 6165 4915
  • through your manager or supervisor.

How consultations are held

You can arrange to speak with a consultant over the phone, or meet face-to-face. Consultations can be conducted at Converge’s offices throughout Tasmania.

Confidentiality

All contact with Converge International is highly confidential. You can be assured that your details will not be passed to anyone in the Department.

Who can use the service

The service is available to:

  • all employees of the Department on a statewide basis
  • all statutory and judicial appointees associated with the Department of Justice
  • all immediate family members of employees, with the approval of the Director Human Resources (6165 4936), EAP Coordinator (6165 4915) or a Staff Counsellor
  • members of the public involved in a potential critical incident associated with the Department’s activities.
