Disability Action Plan

A broad range of initiatives is already underway across the Department aimed at ensuring equal access for all our clients and staff. We continue to make advances in terms of access to information, infrastructure, employment and services.

In December 2023, the Department of Justice released the People Culture and Inclusion Disability Action Plan 2024-2027 (PDF, 601.5 KB). This plan provides a comprehensive strategy to improve access and inclusion for departmental staff and to improve our service provision.

The Department of Justice also has a Disability Justice Plan for Tasmania 2017-2020 (DOCX, 292.3 KB), which brings together many existing commitments across the justice system and supplements these with further targeted strategies (see our latest report against the Disability Justice Plan (PDF, 1.1 MB). This plan is aligned with the Accessible Island – Tasmania’s Disability Framework for Action 2018-2021. (Please note that this Framework is in the process of being updated in line with Australia's Disability Strategy 2021-2031).

Work will continue to build on the gains made through the Department’s Disability Action Plan and the Disability Justice Plan for Tasmania.
