Anyone who needs to renew their Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) in 2026 is being encouraged to renew early – up to 3 months before their RWVP expires.
Why renew RWVP early?
Around 50,000 people will be renewing their RWVP in 2026. These high volumes mean it may take longer than the usual 6 weeks to process. Therefore leaving renewal to the last minute increases the risk of their RWVP expiring, which will mean they can’t work or volunteer with vulnerable people, including children.
Keeping their RWVP active means people can keep working and volunteering with vulnerable people, including children. So the RWVP Scheme is encouraging those who need to renew in 2026 to take advantage and renew their RWVP early – up to 3 months before it expires.
How to renew RWVP early
It’s so easy:
- Check the RWVP card to confirm the expiry date
- Ensure current proof of identity documents are available
- Log in to My RWVP and renew early at www.justice.tas.gov.au/rwvp/my-rwvp
A RWVP can be renewed up to 3 months before it expires. The renewed RWVP will commence from the expiry date of the current RWVP.
Email and/or text reminders will be sent, so once a reminder is received, it’s important not to delay.
NEW: Renew your RWVP completely online!
After starting their renewal at MyRWVP, people can download the new myServiceTas app to verify their identity – and their renewal is done, completely online! That way, there’s no need to visit a Service Tasmania service centre (there’s not need to get a new photo taken!).
Of course, they can still go to a Service Tasmania service centre. They can book an appointment at Service Tasmania’s Hobart and Launceston service centres, and walk-in services are available at all Service Tasmania service centres. Find more information on the Service Tasmania website.
Information for managers and supervisors
Managers and supervisors play an important role in encouraging their workers and volunteers to renew up to 3 months before their RWVP expires. Being proactive helps keep RWVPs active and avoids disruptions to business operations.
The RWVP Employer Portal can be used to check when workers’ RWVPs expire. Access the portal at www.justice.tas.gov.au/rwvp/my-rwvp/employer-portal, where guidance on how to access and use it is also available.
