The Attorney-General has announced the appointment of Louise Coe as Independent Regulator of the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework.

Most recently, Ms Coe has been Director Child Safe Organisations with the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian, a position she has held for almost five years, and played a key role in the implementation of the Child Safe Standards in that state.

Ms Coe has also held senior roles in the same office for a further six years, and also has strong experience in other relevant roles including with the NSW Commission for Children and Young People, NSW Aboriginal Children’s Service.

The appointment is the result of a merit-based recruitment process that included lived experience expertise, and run by an external company.

The Department of Justice project team will continue to work with Ms Coe and her staff to hand over relevant project work to support the Framework’s implementation.

Information about the Framework will remain on the CARCRU website for the time being.
