Witness Intermediaries Panel

The Witness Intermediary Scheme Pilot (the Scheme) operates in all regions of Tasmania and interest is sought from North West Tasmania. The Scheme provides an exciting opportunity for appropriately qualified professionals to utilise their skills in the criminal justice system.

The Department of Justice is seeking expressions of interest for people with expertise in communication for appointment to undertake the role of a witness intermediary from:

  • Speech pathologists,
  • Psychologists,
  • Occupational therapists,
  • Social workers, or
  • Other people with qualifications or appropriate skills in working with children or people with communication needs.

Witness intermediaries work alongside police, lawyers and judges to ensure that children and vulnerable witnesses are supported to communicate their best evidence.
