Offender's obligations during the program (Court Mandated Diversion)

Court Mandated Diversion (CMD) is not an easy option.

Offenders sentenced to this order will have restrictions placed on them and must meet various obligations. These conditions help the individual break the drug-crime cycle and recover from drug use.

On a Drug Treatment Order (DTO), an offender must abstain from all illicit drug use.

Other obligations that are generally included are that the offender must:

  • submit to regular, random urinalysis
  • attend regular face-to-face case management with a Court Diversion Officer (CDO)
  • attend regular court reviews with a Magistrate or Judge
  • attend individual counselling and group programs

There are often more obligations, which will be explained to the offender by the court or the CDO after being sentenced to the program.
