Regulation of Sex Industry in Tasmania - Discussion Paper

This Discussion Paper on the Regulation of the Sex Industry in Tasmania has been prepared by the Department of Justice to provide a framework for consultation on whether the laws relating to the sex industry require amendment, and if so in what way.

The Report on the Review of the Sex Industry Offences Act 2005 (the Review), which was tabled in Parliament in 2009 reported that key stakeholders considered the Act had not been effective in achieving its objective of protecting sex workers from exploitation in the industry. The Review recommended that the Government consider the suitability of alternative legislative models for application in Tasmania.

The Discussion Paper invited written submissions from organisations and the general public on potential reforms to the Sex Industry Offences Act 2005
