Police Offences Amendment (Workplace Protection) Bill 2022 - Have your say
The Tasmanian Government is committed to ensuring that public consultation processes are open and transparent and we are seeking your input on Police Offences Amendment (Workplace Protection) Bill 2022 (the draft Bill).
The draft Bill has been prepared as an alternative approach to a Bill released for consultation last year. The new Bill would repeal the Workplaces (Protection from Protesters) Act 2014, and clarify the offences of public annoyance and trespass under the Police Offences Act 1935, including appropriate penalties and aggravated penalties. The Bill responds to matters raised by the High Court of Australia in the case of Brown and Another v State of Tasmania and provides protection for lawful business activities. The Bill also responds to submissions received last year, by proposing an alternative approach for consultation.
The comment period for this consultation is now closed.

Submissions will be published once the Government has determined proposed position.
