Member, Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal

The Government of Tasmania is seeking expressions of interest in appointment as a member of the Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal pursuant to section 6 of the Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal Act 1993, section 277(1) of the Water Management Act, and section 87(1) of the Gas Pipelines Act 2000.

Applications are invited from any person who possesses expertise in:

  1. resource economics;
  2. science;
  3. engineering;
  4. medicine;
  5. environmental management;
  6. industry process operations;
  7. building;
  8. architecture;
  9. building surveying;
  10. plumbing;
  11. local government;
  12. disability access to buildings;
  13. environmental and public health;
  14. law;
  15. the use or management of water resources; and
  16. the maintenance and operation of pipelines.

To be considered for appointment as a legal member the candidate must be an Australian lawyer of not less than five years’ standing as an Australian legal practitioner.  

Appointment is by the Governor-in-Council for a period of 5 years. Members receive remuneration of $443 per sitting. Legal Members receive remuneration of $676 per session. Sittings and duties occur on an ‘as required’ basis.

Responses must contain a curriculum vitae and the names of two (2) professional and confidential referees.
