The Sullivans Cove Master Plan was launched by the Premier, David Bartlett on 20 August 2010.
Preparation of the Master Plan commenced in June 2009 under the guidance of the State Architect, Peter Poulet, and a draft Master Plan was released for public consultation between 21 December 2009 and 12 March 2010.
A number of submissions were received from stakeholder groups and from members of the public, and the Master Plan was revised in the context of these comments.

A draft Implementation Strategy has been developed to translate the Master Plan’s conceptual strategic framework into on-ground outcome.
The Department of Premier and Cabinet will establish a high-level committee to finalise, coordinate and execute the Implementation Strategy. Hobart City Council, Tasports and the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority will be included in the process to ensure a united, coordinated approach.
