Tasmania has laws prohibiting unauthorised cultivation and possession of any part of the poppy plant, with severe penalties in place.
Regular, frequent inspections of crops are conducted by Poppy Advisory and Control Board Field Officers in collaboration with Tasmania Police Poppy Task Force, Government and poppy company field officers.
