New Building Legislation Information Sessions

Tasmania has new building legislation which came into effect on 1 January 2017.

Information sessions on the new legislation have now finished.

Additional sessions and forums will be scheduled in 2017.

Permit Authority Forum

This activity is an update for Permit Authorities in Tasmania and is conducted by the Director of Building Control. The next forum date is to be advised.

Building Surveyors' (Permit Authority) Forum

This activity is an update for Building Surveyors in Tasmania and is conducted by the Director of Building Control. The next forum date is to be advised.

Plumbing Surveyors' (Permit Authority) Forum

This activity is an update for Plumbing Surveyors and Local Government Staff in Tasmania and is conducted by the Director of Building Control.  The next forum date is to be advised.

Bushfire Training Opportunity

Tasmanian Fire Service (TFS) and the University of Technology Sydney run a 5 day Short Course in Development and Building in Bushfire Prone Areas.  Successful completion of this course entitles attendees to be accepted as TFS Provisional Accredited Practitioners for Bushfire Hazard Assessments.  This course is usually delivered once or twice per year alternating between north and south Tasmania.  For details of the next course and other related information visit TFS Building for Bushfire.

The Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance)

The Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) is a nationally recognised qualification that covers competencies required by those responsible for ensuring statutory compliance with the requirements of legislation, regulations, and government and organisational policy.

The Training Consortium will be offered in 2017 in conjunction with Consumer, Building and Occupational Services of Department of Justice.

The program will be delivered by CIT Solutions, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with authority to deliver and accredit the qualification.

National Construction Code 2016

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has released a series of webcast clips on the National Construction Code 2016.  The seminars give an overview of the NCC 2016 amendments. Changes to Australian Standards referenced in the NCC 2016 are also presented by Standards Australia. The ABCB has based the webcast clips on information seminars delivered in all capital cities in February and March 2016.

ABCB Endorsed National Construction Code Online Training

Working with the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB), Pointsbuild is proud to offer a range of online training courses on the National Construction Code (NCC), specifically designed for the Australian building and construction industry.

This training is available to purchase and attracts CPD points.  To find out how to access the training visit Pointsbuild.

The NCC online courses are delivered on a range of subjects:

  1. Application of the National Construction Code
  2. The NCC Energy Efficiency Provisions
  3. The NCC Access Provisions
  4. The Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA).

The courses will enable building professionals from all backgrounds and perspectives to improve their core skills and technical knowledge in the National Construction Code.

Master Builders Association NSW

Master Builders Association NSW hereby provide permission for Consumer, Building and Occupational Services to reproduce and distribute waterproofing course resource material. These resources remain the property of Master Builders NSW Training and must not be altered or relied upon as sole reference material. BCA and Australian Standards remain the authoritative reference documents. Delivery of any training sessions, using these resources, must be from an approved MBA NSW trainer.

It is provided as an information service for building practitioners and it is up to individual practitioners to decide which providers of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) will best meet their needs. Many providers give both online/distance and face-to-face training.
