The Simplifying Planning Schemes Project was established under a State-wide Partnership Agreement. The Project has been successfully concluded following the issue of Planning Directive No. 1 - the Format and Structure of Planning Schemes. This requires all new planning schemes to be prepared using a common format and structure, which was initially developed by the Simplifying Planning Schemes Project. Phase 2 of the Project included a number of matters that are now being pursued by the Department in a review of the State's planning system.
