RPDC guideline on State Policy on the Protection of Agricultural Land [38.2 kb | pages]

This Guideline concerns Principle 4 of the Policy, non-agricultural use of prime agricultural land. The guideline is issued under the State Policy on the Protection of Agricultural Land 2000 by the Resource Planning and Development Commission (RPDC), with the approval of the Minister, to assist planning authorities in dealing with the implementation of the Policy.

Review of State Policy on the Protection of Agricultural Land - Draft terms of reference [26 kb]
The purpose of the Policy is to foster sustainable agriculture in Tasmania by ensuring the continued productive capacity of the State’s agricultural land resource. The Policy requires that both prime and non-prime agricultural land is to be protected from conversion to non-agricultural use. This is to be achieved through local government planning schemes.
