What if a condition of a probation order is broken?

If an offender breaks a condition of the probation order there can be a number of consequences. Depending on the situation this can include:

  • a formal warning letter
  • a meeting with the Community Corrections' regional manager
  • returning to court for the magistrate or judge to decide upon an appropriate penalty

If they go back to court for breaking a condition of a probation order, an offender may be sentenced to one or more of the following:

  • a fine of up to $1000.00
  • imprisonment, actual or suspended for up to three months
  • a probation order
  • a community service order
