What is a parole order?

A parole order is an order made by the Parole Board that allows a prisoner to live in the community while completing their prison sentence.

The probation officer is responsible for:

  • the preparation of pre-parole reports
  • supervision, case management and monitoring the progress of parolees
  • provision of information and progress reports to the Parole Board

The community has expectations that:

  • they will be protected
  • prisoners on Parole Orders will be appropriately supervised
