We are committed to working with offenders on community based orders in ways that aim to reduce re-offending and contribute to a safer society.
Our Vision
To provide effective community based services for offenders that are appropriate to Tasmania's needs and to be recognised as a cohesive organisation that strives for excellence and has the respect of the community. We value working together, progress, integrity, diversity and accountability.
The major functions of a probation officer include:

providing the courts and Parole Board with assessments and reports

supervising offenders on probation, parole and community service orders

case management of offenders on probation and parole orders with a focus on exploring and confronting offending behaviour with the aim of reducing re-offending

facilitating group programs aimed at reducing re-offending

preparing legal documents required for returning offenders to court

serving summons and attending court
