How to register a Deed of Relationship

You will need to:

  • complete an Application to Register a Deed of Relationship
    (Acrobat Reader is needed to open this form - download free copy)
  • pay the prescribed fee
  • provide appropriate identification

    Note:  If you are registering a Caring Relationship you must lodge with your Application, a Certificate of Legal Advice - Caring Relationship (one certificate for each person).  This is to be completed by a legal practitioner.  The legal practitioner will advise each party of the legal ramifications of registering a caring relationship.

Applications must be forwarded to:

Births, Deaths and Marriages, GPO Box 198, Hobart, Tas, 7001 or lodged in person at Level 3, 15 Murray Street, Hobart, Tasmania.

How to withdraw an application to Register a Deed of Relationship

You can withdraw your application to Register a Deed of Relationship at any time during the 28 day period between lodging your application and the registration being finalised by:

There is no fee payable for withdrawing your application.  However, the original payment for lodging the Application to Register a Deed of Relationship is not refundable.  If you wish to re-apply you will need to submit a new application.
